Jethro Kloss reports the benefits of eating lemon in his book ‘Back to Eden’:

The medicinal value of lemon is as follows: It is an antiseptic, or is an agent that prevents sepsis [the presence of pathogenic bacteria] or putrefaction [decomposition of tissue]. It is also anti-scorbutic, a term meaning a remedy which will prevent disease and assist in cleansing the system of impurities.”

In the same book he also refers that lemon juice is very useful in case of malaria because it is a powerful stimulant to liver, dissolves uric acid and other poisonous substances and liquefies the bile.

Those suffering from rickets, tuberculosis, gout and chronic rheumatism should also consume lemon juice. It also helps prevent uterine hemorrhages and bleeding.

During pregnancy it helps to build bones in the child.

Lemon is rich is micro nutrients like Potassium and Calcium. Because it’s rich in Calcium, it’s good for our bones and teeth and likewise because of its potassium content, it will nourish our brain.

In his book he further mentions:

Its magnesium, in conjunction with Calcium, has an important part to play in the formation of albumen in the blood. The lemon contains potassium 48.3%, calcium 29.9%, phosphorous 11.1%, magnesium 4.4%. Lemons are useful in treatment of asthma, coughs, sore throat, diphtheria, flu, heart burn, scurvy, liver complaints and fever.

You would be interested to know that lemons are similar to the digestive juices present in our system. When considering electromagnetic properties of food, Dr. Beddoe states that all foods are considered cationic except fresh, raw lemon juice. Some people suggest that lemon has a low sulfur content, that’s why it’s like our digestive enzymes that are also anionic. But pasteurized and packages lemon juice is cationic and, therefore, not a herbal wonder.

Vitamin C benefits skin by playing the role of anti oxidant as it helps to reduce skin damage by free radicals. Another noteworthy thing is that Vitamin C is essential for the synthesis of collagen which is the most important structural protein of our skin. So adding Vitamin C to the skin increases synthesis of collagen dramatically. So lemon juice can subtract some years off your face and make your look young and vibrant.

No wonder that ancient Egyptians believed that eating lemons and drinking its juice is an effective protection against various poisons.
